I should just poke through and post a bunch of photos to catch up...and I shall...just a note to mention returning...

This summer's highlight so far is not getting burned, then pinched by a crab and subsequently drooled on by stray dog w/no rabies vaccination. (see last summer)

Keep banging my head against things though...and seeing flashes of light...and, well, maybe this rabies thing is more pesky to shake off than I had anticipated.

I just tried to use an old and tired Krazy Glue...it was all frozen and useless.

I tried to poke the hole in the new tube and it exploded, squirted all over me and the couch and primarily my left hand, though as you try to understand your new limitations and risks the right hand grew an understanding.

I have a store credit that cannot be cashed out, the money was originally used to purchase a rocking horse for a little girl.

So just the other day someone approached me with a 100 dollar Kohls gift card. They had no method of getting to kohls to use said card and offered to let me spend 20 dollars of it on myself if I drove him as a sort of gratuity in which we would both have a sort of value in the excursion.

I put it off and after putting it off I put it off some more. finally I really couldn't put it off any longer and so I went. It has been ages since I have been in that building and I was a little disoriented, it has changed quite a bit over time.

The gentleman was interested in Hawaaiian shirts and socks I believe. I am in need of so many basic staples I simply wandered around until I noticed some items of utility which overlapped with my meager price point.

Voila! Cuisinart had a cutting board (I have a very nice one, quite small-all I need-but I have misplaced it, no clue where the little bugger scampered off to) which is probably in the 20 dollar zone for this day and age. But wait!! there's more!! This little combo had a lovely ceramic knife with a rubbery handle of fine grip and a midnight coal dust in a collapsed mine satan's own sun doesn't shine hue contrasting lovely with the alabaster razor sharp ceramic edge. No peeler however. Perfect!!

So my question to all of you is of an over under variety. Part of the scenario I have already lost--I did indeed cut myself, drawing blood, more than just a bit, while opening the infernal packaging. Why must they package in that manner? So first blood is off the table, but that still leaves the instrument itself.

The over under is---how long until I cut myself with the ceramic blade? It was purchased Tuesday and there is a lovely prize for the winner.

D90 and D7000

So I am going to sell my D5000 and get the newly released D7000.

I have heard all sorts of things along the way and now that the cameras are out there I had thought that the numbers and environment would be fixed and easy to understand if not easy to decide.

The numbers seem to be going all over and in conversation someone who knows much more than I do suggested that the mess in Japan might affect availability and pricing.

I don't know, I do know that I thought the price would be quite a bit less than the numbers I am seeing. I thought that maybe part of that would involve the SMRP vs. the more approachable pricing world as it really tends to be out there...

I have seen numbers ranging from 1100 to 1700, ugh.

The lower end of that would see my camera finding a lovely new home while I pick up the new D7000 with it's far more robust alloy housing finding a fine future with myself. I do need a rugged and dauntless platform for the activities and lifstyle which are simply a matter of course around these parts so to speak.

Do I just ebay and then figure it out? Such different numbers...much more rugged though, saving some money won't help if the housing cracks...what to do-

Flew a nice little kite with a friend yesterday in a beautiful graveyard/open space.

Today I am so ungainly it is just ridiculous. Dropping things, bumping into things, even bruising the spaces in between words as I respond or query in idle conversation.

The 'puter keeps crashing, I managed to get the photos on the hard drive but there are some hurdles on the way to posting them so far.

I will give Jimmy a gander as I roam for a minute before trying to post again. The idea of isolating or cropping/manipulating a shot or two is just right out before the get go.

Lincoln Doggie In Need of Home

So down a few posts but a number of days ago as I have not been posting much I told of the lovely dog Lincoln, who needs a home.

I have some photos now and the computer hasn't crashed so I certainly wish to get this post out clearly and quickly.

I would be willing to drive hours to place him in a loving home, so distance is maybe not as great a problem as you may think. The dog lives close to Hartford, CT.

I believe that his caregivers spelled his name "Lyncon" or "Lyncoln" or some such waay too cutesy uniqueness or such.

That in itself surpasses the abuse and indignity any mammal ought to experience in a lifetime, but he needs a home.

I will be spelling his name Lincoln and may even make reference to the famous "Lincoln Tree" which is another matter, we'll see if this computer keeps ticking.

I had hoped to have more and better photos but I also want to post this while this old Dell is ticking right now.

Officially here is the note I was sent, along with the photos above of this sweetheart. You never know, all it takes is remembering to ask as you move through your days. Ask and listen, the happy owner could be speaking to someone else at the coffee shop or who knows? I placed a rabbit that way once and absolutely turned around a very sad child's time by asking a stranger right out of the blue.

Hi everybody,

I am going to put up a couple of photos of a cute doggie named Lincoln. It turns out that, through no fault of his own, he needs a new home. He is medium sized and lanky. Healthy with medium to short hair and gorgeous eyes.

He is 4? maybe 5. His owner is a newly single mom with very young twins and a difficult work schedule, so it is terrible but she feels it best that another good family can spend more time with the little poochie. I wish I could own a dog very much and have wanted to for a long time, but owing to some timing uncertainties and a tiny apartment with a pet policy I will be unable to step up for poor Lincoln. Please ask all you know as you can never tell when the right person will find out that the timing is perfect.

Poor little guy never did anything wrong. I think I recall that he once ate a sock when he was about one year old. Now he needs a little loving in a secure structured surrounding, so please ask around, you never know the next person you ask may be the one. I found a home for a bunny that way once. I said "would you happen to want to provide a nice home for a bunny rabbit?" and the look in return, the stunned and silent drop jawed look with a guarded sparkle in the eye said it all.

I'll never forget. Her little boy had just lost his bunny rabbit to some scary coyotes who could not get into the hutch but managed to frighten the little buck-tooth softy to death.

It was sooo worth risking looking like a silly fool with the non sequitor question to a complete, or near complete, stranger. The next day we brought over the rabbit and the hutch so they would have nice fluffy accomodations.

That is provocative and dangerous for the Brits, they should and by all rights ought to seek spooky clandestine retribution against the U.S. over this matter.

Remember that Obama has tasked NASA with providing inspiration and technology to muslim nations, and we do not know what that involves. Remember also that it is critical to maintain the nuclear arsenal to make it safe, let alone potent and reliable, and he has vigorously opposed those actions. If you still support this president as an individual while knowing his policies and choices you are at best a "citizen of the globe" not an American. Really though, I think you are a traitor, an enemy of liberty.

To watch him deal with Central and South America and hug Chavez while fumbling at best with Mubarak and the Suez Canal is to shiver and hate. I hate this individual, I love the presidency, I never thought I would hate any Pres more than Clinton, but I actually have found a difficult affection for ol' Bubba compared to this lunk of fecal matter with huge ears.

What is really going on? Lord knows, but I suspect that this guy loves the perks of the office and after that he just wants to give away our assets, print money and any quick thing to get through the day while he preens himself and repeats "I'm president" in his head countless times. If anyone suggests to you that monotheism means that we share the same God as Allah, do not buy it. These polls may be poor, but Pew has respect, and the notion carries. You had the freedom to submit and live. A gentle question posed to any Muslim will reveal that they do not believe that the one God is the same for infidels and Muslims, and that means a tremendous amount to the Muslim. One God, it almost sounds like a trick question, but, no, it is "deadly serious man"---(I believe only one person will understand that reference, yes?)

Specifically the author Robert Spitzer criticising the Supreme Court justices in the Heller vs. D.C. majority with a dangerous ignorance of the notion of an individual right to bear arms historically in the United States.

Spitzer reminded me much of the shameful Michael Bellesiles book, now a scandal and debunked, Arming America in which the thesis was that widespread gun ownership is a recent trend toward what had been essentially a mythical yet widely believed untruth.

It sounded so similar that I looked up both of their names, and, lo, here is Spitzer's review of Bellesiles steaming mess over at Powell's:

That being as it is I have a strange longing for all of my puppy pals. Abby and...well, in no particular order, alphabetical or otherwise I wish I could romp in the snow with Klara and Colombus and Mendel and Quin and well, I would love to get some kibble and some icecream and have a pooch fest.

Jimmy called and mentioned that Instapundit has some material regarding the mess in Arizona, which has become, or it sums up, the mess that is our political class and our media class.

I listened to NPR and it was awful. Maura Liasson was on Fox with patently ignorant questions coming from a clear political arena. "why does anyone have a need for those high capacity magazines"--if you don't know guns go and read up to find out why that is such a telling and pathetically ignorant question. She should not have any access to public moneys.

I looked at NPR online and the comments section is just deeply discouraging.

So, flat out, before I see others respond, may the left who choose to highlight gunsight imagery rot in their own vile attempt to control the ways and means of communication. Language and imagery do not add up to murder.

Having said that the reactions to the representative republic which is our nation will be dire. This hurts. That's a shame. Again, this damages the necessary feedback and town halls which have helped this nation since before it's existence. The bastard will have driven a security wedge between us and our representatives at a time when that gulf was already far far too dividing.

Update: There are now nascent rumblings asserting that the individual was Left Wing. Sadly, if he was left wing his actions will have fewer repercussions upon our liberties and associations with our representatives. I say this because the media will lose the story at a much more accelerated rate, that's a fact, period. Also there will be a far milder attempt to abrogate liberties and pass laws attenuating, say, the 2nd amendment, for the same reason. The politicians will be reluctant to bring up left wing whack jobs.

Sadly, on a level with less visibility, the politicians will draw back from the public contact. The public's hostility is bound to increase for other matters, and this matter will weigh upon the security which intercedes our access to our reps.
